If there are two key lessons to be gleaned from this training, we’d identify these two:
- Determine an ROI metric for newsletter messaging. “Branding” is not adequate. Whether it be appointments booked, views to your educational blog site, ecommerce sales, shares / “likes” on your existing content marketing material… it’s important to have a purpose behind your messaging, and a way to measure success.
- Segment your newsletters to major segments of your email list, avoid blanket messaging that doesn’t appeal to the goals, situations, or cares of your various list segments. You might chose to segment customers vs. prospects, or by industry, or by interest, lead source, or anything else that might help you send more relevant (read: higher ROI) messaging.
